Last night in the OC, the French pay attention
Last night's Book Soup event at the South Coast Plaza in Orange County was, um, intimate but sweet. Yes, that means not that many people showed up. But there was a handful of dedicated Burning Man types and a smaller handful of interested strangers, and at least 10 of them sat and listened to me read and talk for an hour or so, and Book Soup's author wrangler Sayaka (I hope I'm getting that name right) was just perfectly supportive and calming and did everything right.
I got a strange amount of pleasure in seeing a great blowup of my face from Jon Alloway's excellent author flap photo on a promotional poster right above Pamela Anderson, who also did an event there this month. (She had lines out the door, of course.)
Emmanuelle Richard, super French journalist based in L.A., interviewed me a week or so ago for an article that will be appearing in the French mag Max. She blogged a bit about me, Burning Man, and the book here. She calls me a "brilliant journalist."
